Stylish wedding photography | Redhouse Barn

I am delighted to share this stylish wedding photography, as Abbie and Callum united two Scottish clans.  In the father of the bride’s speech we learnt how in darker times these two clans fought each other to the death and there was no love lost!

However on this day Abbie and Callum reversed that trend by marking their commitment to one another and dedicating their baby son.  Finally the service closed with a live acoustic rendition by the whole congregation of Elton John’s Your Song as they sang: How wonderful life is, while you’re in the world.

Abbie’s personality is as sparkling as her Cole Haan shoes – shoes which were not only stunning but also pretty comfortable, because she danced up the aisle with her father and back down it with her husband.  And then – after a few group shots and some champagne – they danced into their reception!

Redhouse Barn in Worcestershire was the perfect venue for this relaxed but stylish wedding photography, and for Abbie and Callum’s unique wedding.  In addition to the dancing shoes, the families and their kilts were there in force.  Once all Scottish socks were on, handsome thistle boutonnieres finished their look.  A close friend’s son made a handsome pageboy in full attire, who took his job as ring-bearer extremely seriously, guarding his precious cargo in his sporran until the moment.

The weather was typically British and could not quite decide.  Sunshine and showers took their turn but we still got our golden hour at sunset, as well as some amazing triple rainbows which everyone tried to capture on their phones.

Another wonderful feature of this wedding was the lovely flower girls.  Having been a bridesmaid twice as a girl I remember the magic of the experience – totally different to being one as an adult.  So it was really great to see this opportunity being given to a sweet little troupe of young ladies.  The girls looked very fine in their fresh flower crowns, and they all earned their fun creche session and tea of their own during the speeches.

Thank you Abbie and Callum for inviting me to document your day.

“Something old, something new, something borrowed… Oh! Something blue – I haven’t got anything…”

In fact this beautiful Somerset wedding was threaded right through with something blue, as the bridesmaids quickly pointed out. From the gorgeous letterpress invitations by Sydney designers D&D Letterpress through to the personalised votives at the wedding breakfast – Lucy and Matt’s love of bright blue Portuguese tiling was echoed throughout the styling.

This was the union of an English groom and an Australian bride – both with blossoming careers in the airline industry – and as such they also share a love of travel and discovering new and beautiful parts of the world together.

Lucy has to be one of the most caring, kind and thoughtful brides. Helping the bridal party to find their shoes, checking if I needed a drink – all whilst getting herself ready and maintaining her composure when the schedule ran a little tight and the wind whipped her hair.  This kindness was also spoken about by her maid of honour, who declared that she knew no other person who could rally so many friends and relatives to fly in from the Antipodes for a one-day event!  Matt was equally thoughtful, putting his guests and the smooth running of the day ahead of himself long before laying his hands on a well-earned cold drink.

This couple’s wedding was simple, stylish and, above all, a huge amount of fun. Laughter was the order of the day – with a relaxed ceremony, joyful family reunions and side-splitting speeches that made it tough to hold the camera still at times.

From the outset Lucy chose to hire local and regional suppliers.  The wedding featured a classic floral colour palette of green and white with pink accents, with lashings of greenery and seasonal English flowers, delivered and arranged by Bloomingdales Flowers.  The cake from The Bakemonger was a sight to behold – a towering multi-tier semi-naked cake heavily adorned with edible gold ribbon, dried fruit slices and fresh figs, grapes and blackberries.

Lucy’s wedding band was a stunning slim diamond band from the Dubai Gold & Diamond Souk.  Her bespoke off-the-shoulder dress was sewn in gorgeous ivory raw silk by local dressmaker Glenys Redwood and featured a fabulous oversized bow and fishtail train. Her look was finished off with an Irish lace veil and pearl earrings from Liberty London. The bridal party were made even lovelier by talented Laura Le Page and Tranquillity Hair.  The bridesmaids wore simple and stylish champagne dresses – again hand-sewn by Glenys – with sweet flowers clipped in their hair. (Full vendor credits below.)

Thank you Lucy and Matt – together with both of your families, and the bridesmaids and groomsmen – for not only entrusting me with the honour of capturing your wedding, but also for truly welcoming me as one of the family.  I loved every moment of your day!  Thank you for putting your trust in me and in film, and for choosing fine art photography.

I shot much of this luxury Somerset wedding photography on film for its timeless beauty, and the sun shone for some stunning golden hour portraits.
