Pennard House

Pennard House

Pennard House is a wedding venue in Somerset with fashion connections. I took my film camera for a tour around this stunning wedding venue and gorgeous family home. The location of choice for Vogue, Marie Claire and The English Home magazine, Pennard House is a beautiful, family-owned country estate, just waiting to host your perfect weekend wedding. A hidden gem in the rolling Somerset countryside, the Georgian home is the epitome of dreamy English elegance. Pennard House is an exclusive use Somerset wedding venue for anyone looking for something a little different. Exclusive use weddings are bang on trend for 2019 and 2020 weddings, offering the chance to do wedding, party and mini-moon in one swoop.  You are invited to come and make yourself at home and experience your tailor-made event, uniquely designed to perfectly suit your style. Pennard is a Grade II listed Manor House with grand reception rooms, luxury bedrooms and a converted Coach House event venue ideal for all manners of parties. Surrounded by 130 acres of meadows, woodlands and apple orchards, there’s a croquet lawn, tipis in the garden… it really is the quintessential English stately home. Pennard is all yours exclusively for your stay, setting the stage for the perfect wedding in a truly English setting. Scroll down to take a look around Pennard House wedding venue. My favourite highlights are the hand-painted wallpaper in the bridal suite, the chandeliers in the stables and a courtyard plucked from an Italian piazza. Equipped with licensed ceremony spaces indoor and out, Pennard has an air of timeless elegance but with a welcoming feel.

Blush and Gold | Hollywood Golden Era at Charlton House

Blush and Gold | Hollywood Golden Era at Charlton House

Fairytale Opulence

At Charlton House Orangery

a simple blush and gold palette with wild florals at its heart….

Mixing the opulent glamour of Hollywood’s Golden Era with the fairytale romance of Cinderella as she waits to enter the ballroom.

I thought it high time to share this beautiful blush and gold wedding inspiration. Shot during spring at Bannatyne’s Charlton House in Somerset, it featured on Rock My Wedding.

Charlton House’s Orangery is a darling Art Deco style building, with parquet floors and full-height oval patio doors. Classic English country style mingles with French chic with Mulberry drapes and gilded mirrors. It’s the perfect backdrop for a simple blush and gold palette which features wild florals at its heart.

The orangery is flooded with light. It’s perfect for natural light wedding photography during the months of March to October. You can hold your ceremony and/or meal in the Orangery.

Here you’ll find a gorgeous array of garden roses, with armfuls of lush foliage.  A colour palette of blush and gold and foliage works beautifully against the natural textures of marble and brickwork found at the venue. Featuring a huge trailing urn arrangement, gold leaf silk ribbons, a stunning half-up/half-down hairstyle, and a breathtaking asymmetric ruffled gown.

I was commissioned by luxe florist Fleur Provocateur to shoot this brand editorial at Charlton House Hotel’s grand Orangery. It mixes the opulent glamour of Hollywood’s Golden Era with the fairytale romance of Cinderella as she waits to enter the ballroom.  Shooting entirely on professional film stocks added to the aspirational feel.

Blush and gold has certainly been in fashion for a while and might even be considered over-done! But it’s a classic that I believe will never go out of style. And when used cleverly in a space with rich colours it looks seriously classy.

Almonry Barn

Almonry Barn

Almonry Barn is a breathtaking slice of history on the Somerset levels.

It sits proud opposite the medieval ruin of Muchelney Abbey. It once formed a part of the 800-year-old Abbey, and now nestles in its own peaceful orchard. The wide expanse of sky and countryside stretches for miles in every direction. Birdsong fills the air.

The Almonry is the oldest barn wedding venue in the country, yet Louise and her family maintain it immaculately. They have carefully styled the interiors at Almonry Barn to reflect a chic, designer aesthetic. In the bar, lounge and ceremony rooms you will find a classic British style with modern accents has been sensitively curated. Warm neutrals define the look.

The atmosphere inside the Barn is quite astonishing. This place needs little to enhance it’s beauty, since the palette of its stones truly sings. The signature canopy of lights hangs perfectly in this warm and beautiful palette of blush, grey-blue and gold.

Windows are juxtaposed at fascinating heights, and two sets of imposing barn doors are thrown open to flood the space with light. And if vaulted beams are your thing, then you’re in for a treat at the Almonry.

In the orchard a handmade swing hangs opposite the duck egg shepherd’s hut. Chic white bistro furniture looks right at home on the terrace. It’s a rural idyll.

Far from your typical barn venue, Almonry Barn is imposing and elegant with just a touch of rustic. Reminiscent of a French gite or Tuscan farmhouse, it’s the perfect luxurious venue with a continental, country feel. View a stylish barn wedding here.

Brympton House

Brympton House

Brympton House

As a wedding photographer I am always inspired by iconic romances. Here you will find the perfect Valentines Day wedding planning ideas from Chocolat (the movie released in 2000). The film featured some scenes shot on location at Brympton House. Brympton was once described as “the most incomparable house in Britain”. See more inside the house.

“Life is what you celebrate. All of it.”

Take inspiration for a Valentines Day wedding from Chocolat, the iconic romance starring Johnny Depp and Juliette Binoche. Based on Joanne Harris‘ book, the storyline is bursting with joie de vivre, colour and life. Scroll down to enjoy the images from an editorial I shot, featuring in this month’s issue of Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding.

“I sell dreams, small comforts, sweet harmless temptations to bring down a multitude of saints crashing among the hazels and nougatines.”

The movie’s main character Vianne – and her love of chocolate – sparked our inspiration. Luxurious chocolate truffles were made by hand at The Chocolate Society. They’re seen here in coordinating shades of burgundy, caramel and duck-egg blue. A decadent twist served at your cocktail hour, or a mouthwatering treat in favour boxes for your guests!

“Old habits never die. And when you’ve once been in the business of granting wishes, the impulse never quite leaves you.”

Our bride waited in excitement in the walled garden – preparing herself to walk the outdoor aisle to the temple – its brickwork brought to life again with a lush, verdant installation.

I bet you’ll want to curl up together and watch the film. (Don’t forget the chocolates.) See the full gallery here.

This look would suit any outdoor wedding, country house wedding or destination wedding.

“The process of giving is without limits.”

Warm, joyful and honest, this wedding has a relaxed feel, with Brympton House pictured as a French Chateau. A riot of floral colour adorned our table on the terrace. Elegant, classic gold cutlery and beaded chargers are offset by the simple farmhouse furniture. Blush David Austin roses jostled with vibrant poppies, anemones, delphiniums and ranunculus. Delicate pops of purple come from the snakeshead fritillary and grape hyacinth.

Brympton House Wedding | Country House Venue

Brympton House Wedding | Country House Venue

This Autumn I am proud to be partnering with some very beautiful wedding venues in the south west of England, as a preferred supplier for luxury wedding photography. Today I am delighted to introduce my partnership with Brympton House.  I believe a Brympton House wedding will always be a perfect country house wedding.  In the exquisite film stills below you can catch a glimpse of what Brympton House offers you as a deluxe wedding venue. Take a look at this Brympton House Wedding Gallery.

You have the choice of three different licensed ceremony spots – the adjoining chapel, the Castle House with its dark beams (once a cider distillery), or the Palladian temple.  There are more than six different but equally elegant indoor rooms available to you for your receptions.  And don’t overlook the outdoor terrace, lawns and gardens with their endless pretty nooks perfect for romantic wedding photography, and for your guests to stroll through.  For example, just take a look at the magnificent Great Hall, with its wall of stags’ heads and Autumn sun glinting through its impressive mullioned windows.

Set in 33 acres of parkland at Brympton D’Evercy in Somerset, the house boasts the longest straight stretch of staircase in England, and has played host to a number of period films and TV dramas over the years. Its beauty and character is simply breathtaking, and a Brympton House wedding is sure to look and feel magnificent! Styling and floral design are also available from the talented in-house team.

There are 26 guest bedrooms in total on the estate (including the romantic honeymoon suite) with two family suites, so ample room for your close friends and family to spend the night.  Brympton also offers glamping in 20 beautiful bell tents overlooking the Victorian walled garden.  As one of natural light’s loudest cheerleaders it is perhaps no surprise that my favourite things about Brympton are the stunning windows, doors and archways.

If you are planning your wedding at Brympton House please get in touch to find out more about a special offer just for you when you book.  I will also shoot your wedding on real film – just like the stills you see here – so that your wedding images will be as elegant and full of character as Brympton itself.
